Sometimes a mama just needs a change. Hello red (ish) hair. It doesn't look professional, but I'm too cheap to go to a salon. So, box red(ish) it is. I'll have fun with it for now, and change it up later.
I'm trying to sneak in little things that remind me I am Mandy. Like changing my hair color occasionally... finding time to do something artistic, or crafty once a week... reading a book (not on breastfeeding, parenting, or how to get your baby to take naps).
Not that any of these things make me who I am, but they do help me break from the never ending laundry, dishes, and diapers. I love that I can serve my family through doing these things (okay, I do NOT love the dishes... and I could do without the laundry, as well). But, every once in awhile it is nice to just take a break, and be "me."
Mama's... What do you like to do during your little breaks?

I think it looks great!! Also I know what you mean, every once in a while I try to treat myself to something. We moms deserve it! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Jazmyn♥
you're beautiful!

Cute!!! Love the red!!! I love to read, paint my nails, take a nap all usually happen during Levi's naps... He is 14 months and takes 2-3 hour naps. When my hubby lets me have sometime. I like to go thrifting, I also do my hair color my hair at home. Go to the salon is overrated!!! Overcourse I am a ex-stylist(now SAHM) so I love to play around with my hair. If you have a Questions on coloring...feel to free to ask!!!
ReplyDeleteha, should have proof-read sorry my mistakes...
ReplyDeletelol, It's so not my day!!!! Can you tell I am trying to type with my littles in my lap!!!
ReplyDeleteRead, crochet, sew, bake...possibly in that order...well, no, baking is probably closer to #1, but I need to cut back on the sweets.
ReplyDeletereading, crafting and lately i've been getting together with girl friends to watch pointless reality tv (i.e. the bachelorette and bachelor pad)- every couple weeks. that time with my friends is a time for us to just hang out and have fun and take a break from all the "mom talk". it's super fun and SO needed.
ReplyDeletei like to sit in silence and just enjoy the quiet, because that doesn't happen very often around here.
ReplyDeletei love the red. but i might be a little biased since i've got two redheads. ;-)
I'm no mama, but I'm a nanny and yesterday in my break I sewed a little bow for my hair. I'm doing an online sewing course and I can't wait to finish all the beautiful projects! I also take long walks and some (not as long as I'd want them to be) naps! :)
ReplyDeletePS: Your red hair and fringe are very pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this entry from you!
ReplyDeleteI like to take a drive by myself and blast music like I did before my little girl. No Yo Gabba Gabba songs on these drives.
your hair looks great! eyeliner too! oh, man, what don't I like to do when I have a minute? Probably my favorite things are actually blogging, getting pampered, going shopping, and crafting. xo
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to go to Zumba classes, volunteer, read books....and have a little wine now and then. :)
ReplyDeleteMandy,
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on "Sometimes a mama just needs a change", I just had my baby and Im dying to change up my hair asap!!
Just got the a new cut, but I can't wait to change up the hair color!!
xoxo,
have a great day!
Linette
I love going grocery shopping alone, or just do a little crochet.
ReplyDeleteYou look great! Boxed reddish and all! ... and (I hear) it's SO important to cater to your needs every now and then... a break from the daily grind is a must if you wanna remain that same girl you were pre-mommyhood. I'm taking that lesson with me into motherhood just as soon as I have my baby next month. I MUST stay true to myself and continue to do all those little things that make me ME. =) Sounds like you're a great mom!
ReplyDeleteYou are adorable!
ReplyDeleteIt is so very important to have those little things...to remind you that there is still simply "you" outside of being a mama :)
I have been thinking about hair dye too...! ;)
Love the red on ya. And, though I'm not a mama (yet), when things get really hectic I like to zone out on the couch with a glass of wine and my i-pod.
ReplyDeleteMe? I craft or sew, read blogs or books, and I also change up my hair. From coloring to bangs, even small changes make a big difference. Every Monday night I get to do something for myself, while my husband takes care of the kiddos, and that really helps too!
ReplyDeleteI go grocery shopping. I know it sounds crazy, but it is seriously the most relaxing part of my week. It's the only time I get to escape from the house where I get some peace and quiet and I get to do something entirely on my own. I own the meal planning, the shopping list, and the budgeting. Not only is it a good hour or two away from home, but it's an opportunity to do something that I know serves my family: providing them with nourishment.
ReplyDeleteAnd then, sometimes, when the little has gone to bed, I just sit on the porch and drink a beer alone :)

INSPIRATION! I just realized that I haven't read a book (or a blog for that matter...gah) that is on a subject other than parenting in just about forever. I mean...probably a year. I'm going to start, thanks to you! Tomorrow night = me + bathtub + book.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! I've been dying my hair for years and years so if I have any advice, it's this: use red hair care products. Red is the fastest color to fade! Everyone I've known who decides to dye their hair red, never keeps it for more than a couple of months. It's a lifestyle I always say, haha. It looks pretty though!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm no mama yet but anyone needs alone time every now and then. I like to blog (don't we all?) and nestle with a soft blanket on the couch while I watch a good movie. :)

I love the red! It looks good. I am actually thinking about doing something different with my hair too. I feel i need a change. When i need to get away a bit and have some me time. I usually listen to some music and crochet!
ReplyDeleteIn our sea of love
I take the time to actually fix my hair, read blogs, and drink some coffee. I love reading your blog. Your Lily is a few weeks older than our Gage. The new hair color is super cute!
ReplyDeleteI love working on items to put n my etsy shop any chance I get! Love the red on you!
ReplyDeleteyour so pretty mandy :)
ReplyDeleteI love it. Well I am no mama. But things that remind me of who I am are taking pictures, reading, and taking my dog on a walk.
Love the color. You look good with any hue, I'm sure, but this particularly suits you. And I'm glad you're getting chances to half some you-time.
ReplyDeleteHey! I just wanted to tell you I snagged your button and put it on my blog because I adore yours! Your hair looks awesome. I love red hair, unfortunately my husband does not, lol.
ReplyDeleteHair change is fun! I just recently tried to go light blonde (from dark blonde/light brown) and ended up more on the strawberry side... oops! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color. I just changed mine at the beginning of the month too.
ReplyDeleteI read and go take photos and take walks and write when I am reminding myself that I'm still me. :)
I think you should get a pixie cut. DO IT! I'm posting about my pixie cut this week - it was scary but now I LOVE it, and I think it would look great on your face.
ReplyDeletewell hello red(ish) :) looks great! you can pull off anything my dear! <3
ReplyDeletelooking real good!
ReplyDeleteOh cute I'd like to be brave enough to go for launch and die my hair a fun colour - I'm a bit of a wuss!! You look so cute!
